I've just re-built the gearcase for my Kenmore washer, and it seems like the top of agitator shaft spring is snagging inside the agitator spring shield which goes on top of the spring. I hear this when I manually turn the main drive pulley. It happens when the sector gear goes back and forth, whether the agitator is engaged or not. There is a very slight hesitation on the main drive pulley when I'm turning it by hand. I'm thinking that when the motor is turning the pulley it will turn much faster and maybe this will go away in time. I've attached a picture of the agitator shaft, the metal shield that I'm referring to is under the black seal (you can't see it in the picture). I think the spring is snagging a bit under that metal shield. Not sure if it's something to be concerned with. I did spread some turbine oil on top of the spring and under the shield but it didn't help. It's also a new spring, washer and metal shield.
