if maytag would have styled these "stacked" units with the center-dial type of control panel, they would have been more interesting to me.
i don't know how they could have done it, being that you would need 2 control knobs, but i think they would have looked nicer with the center-dial styling.
maybe make the dryer's control knob at the lower part of the dryer and they could have made the washer's control panel at the top of the front panel of the washer, like in the same area as the kenmore & whirlpool portable washer controls. i bet that would have made the "stacked" units more stylish.
in my opinion, anyway.
hm hm hm......

For all you know

they had many designs that could have included your idea, never go into production. A book featuring all the designs that were never created would be ultra cool.

I always wanted one of those!

I'm a big fan of electronic controls whether they work or not. I don't think it would be too difficult to retrofit a light, maybe something LED, under the dryer. $100 is a real bargain. You could spend more on a toaster and be stuck with dirty laundry.

you're right phil, that would DEFINITELY be a cool book to have and look through!!!

i would totally want to have a book like that. to see all the different ideas & styling that were tossed around. but then again, could you imagine if you seen a picture in that book, of a style of washer or dryer, that you really liked & stood out to you, but was something that was never produced!!?? so there would be no way that you could ever get one of those for yourself, because it was never made???
ahhhh!!! i think that would be torture in itself too!! LOL....

but yeah, it would definitely be a cool book to look through!!
hm hm....
