I picked up that awesome O'Keefe & Merritt combo for John this afternoon and the seller also has these other pink appliances that came from the same house as the O & M combo.

I mentioned the washer/dryer combo was going to a museum and he thought the buyer (John) might also be interested in these too.   So yes he's willing to sell them, but I have a feeling he'd prefer to sell them as a group.   I don't know what be might want for them, but I can find out if anyone is seriously interested.

So we have a Frigidaire electric 4 burner cooktop and the matching dutch door wall oven in PANK.    Check out the photos, it almost looks like the oven has never been used!

There is also this Hotpoint (impeller) dishwasher in... you guessed it... PINK!   It looks to be in decent shape also.   There looked to be some light surface rust inside, but I doubt it's anything serious.

So again, if anyone is seriously interested in this group, I can get a price from the seller.  Just let me know via private AW message or my e-mail.

Kevin

They are so beautiful.

That wall oven does look like it's never been used.

And the dishwasher too.

I am interested in the Dishwasher.

If he finds himself in need of selling only the dishwasher I would be interested but I suspect the line will be long for that one.  It looks to be in really nice condition.

Is that wall oven a Wonder oven?  PhilR probably knows; it looks like it though.

Something tells me I would love the house that he took all these out of. I understand why he did it from a resale standpoint, but I wish I could find and afford a house like that with original appliances!

WOW! It must have been a vacation house only used part time. To find the Hotpoint dishwasher with the instructions still printed on the detergent cup is amazing.

Thanks for the pictures, Kevin.

Wow, heat minder cook tops are tough to come by. The dials and Frigidaire logo put it at about 1957. The oven looks like it was never used! And yes, the oven sure is a Wonder Oven.

The Wonder Oven

revvinkevin's profile picture

It didn't register until I was looking at the photos again now, but I just noticed the oven had a heating element at both the bottom AND the middle of the oven.   What an unusual design!   It definitely limits how tall the item or container can be.   Unless that center element is removable?

As for the house everything came out of, yes they seller said it was an older couple and this was their 3rd home, so everything in it was "low mileage".

The middle element was normally kept under the bottom drip pan which was porcelain. If you wanted to use the Wonder Oven feature, you pulled out one of the drip pans and the extra element and installed them in the middle OR you put the drip tray in without the element and used the upper chamber to broil and the lower one to bake. There was a little flap door that hung down from the middle drip tray to close off the lower oven chamber if the oven door was left open for broiling.

Wow, what a beautiful set! It would be great if someone kept that as a showpiece set... virtually unused, and appear to be TOL, I don't know how often that I have seen a Frigidaire cooktop with the automatic burner.

I have the cooktop and single oven in stainless steel. The Heat Minder unit was very accurate when I used it. This was the first design from before 1957 and used a hydraulic control.

aka Automatic Calrod on GE, were very reliable. The one on our '58 J402 worked perfectly and still did when we sold it last year. Shame they switched to a less reliable type... I think around 1961 or 62?

Update...........

revvinkevin's profile picture

I just heard back from the seller and he is willing to sell all three as a group for $700 (I'm sure that's just a starting point / negotiable).

He did say he's be willing to separate, however the one thing he'd keep if that happens, is the dishwasher.

I can't say that I blame him.

It's a beauty!!  I bet it runs just as well as it did the first day it was connected.  If you look at the timer dial location it appears to have finished the last complete cycle.

I know it's a small thing but every time I see an older dishwasher with the timer dial sitting in the middle of a cycle it usually seems like a red flag to me that something happened and it never finished that cycle.

Are these in Southern Cal?

I would love them but S. Cal is about as far as away from Michigan as you can get. plus, the $ is a little high for me.

On that dishwasher....is it just me...

or is that plastic control/indicator dial just stuck on in front of the chrome trim ring instead of installed behind it? Given the fragile nature of those, I hope that whoever gets this beauty will take that off the stem before they transport it or put it on behind the trim ring so those edges are protected.

This is identical to my "Harriet" but it has the detergent door that is missing from mine. If this were closer I might go for it but as someone else pointed out, there is likely a long line for it and the distance would be an issue for me. Please keep us posted as to the status of these gorgeous units.

UPDATE - 9/22/14 - price lowered!!!

revvinkevin's profile picture

I just spoke with the seller of these lovely, pink appliances and let him know there was zero interest at his $700 price.

He then DROPPED his price to a much more reasonable $450 for all three, but also said that price is firm!

He also said he would sell the dishwasher separately, but did not give a price it.

So... is anyone interested in the beautiful, VERY low use, PINK appliances now??   Go back and look at the photos again.

Send me a private message or e-mail and I will give you the sellers contact info.

Kevin
