Why? I'll tell you why. Because they are opening up their utility bills and getting sticker shocked. They are coming from a bad front loader experience only to be annoyed by the pesky slow hot water fill that requires drilling to fix. They are annoyed by the water level having to be adjusted. They are annoyed by having to clean annoying polishing compound (I've never had to do that before the speed queen set, just run a machine through a cycle to remove dust.).

They are just plain old annoyed.

Does that make these bad machines, no. They are actually great washing machines that do an excellent job. They have a cult following. They are not for everyone.
