The ad doesn't speak about the Nutone hood, I'm wondering if it's available too...

This style of cooktop that's just like the top of a Compact 30 range isn't very common. I think these looked great in this kitchen.

Do you have any idea of the trouble and expense other people would go to to have that look in their kitchen?

That is a rare survival straight out of Mad Men; people who appreciate midcentury architecture and design would kill to have it.

All you're going to get out of your remuddle is a bunch of veneer-over-chipboard cabinets and stainless appliances that will show every finger mark put on them from the day you install them to the all-too-soon day they blow their cheap, no-longer-available motherboards.

You will one day realize: "I had something great, and I did not appreciate it."

Sandy, I agree with your sentiments exactly.  I've been trying to recreate something similar in our kitchen and it has taken me a number of years to just acquire the appliances.  I guess there's no fixing stupid.
