After looking at POD, it is a pity that today TL is less versatile and more difficult to service than the olden-years TL.

I disagree

Hi The7

It is now possible for example to remove the cabinet from a DD whirlpool in about 2 minutes (Remove 2 screws and two clips and the whole cabinet comes off) and then to strip the machine down to a bare chassis in 10.

A pump change can be done in under 5 minutes and bearings and seals can be done in about 10-15 minutes.

Try replacing the pump on a Belt drive machine, or trying to get in there to remove the motor or replace the belt. You start talking about 30mins minimum of grazed knuckles.

The only exception to the serviceability of the older machines would be for Maytag. But even then, to remove the transmission takes some time.

I agree that the older machines were built to last, however the new machines are much easier to service, and are no less versatile than those of 30 years ago.

As a rule, you still have 2 motor speeds and infinite water levels. There isnt much else to change.
