Has anyone seen the great TV show shown on The Discovery Channel in the late 80s early 90s? i had it on video, with Tim Hunkin and Rex Garrod showing some great demos of washing machines and what happens when they go wrong, such as the vintage Hotpoint thundering along without any concrete in to stabelise it? i copied the same 'experiment' with an old Creda washer my nan had, the most fun i've ever had!!!

Oh yes

I had a collection of those episodes, unfortunately gone now. You can get these on DVD but very expensive.

YES!

I loaned somebody the tape (I think I recorded it off channel 4) and never got it back. Those two guys were fun, I wonder what happened to them?

Nick

PS Am about to take delivery of a similar Hotpoint machine myself - look out for some vids when I get it running! Will probably leave the concrete in - sorry :-(

I videotaped the washing machine episode, but I'm pretty sure I threw out the tape when I moved a couple of years ago. I'll check, though, just to make sure. I recall watching it quite a few times....

Thanks ever so much!

I am currently downloading the entire episode FOC, this will bring back memories for sure.

I never saw the other ones and may download those also.

You must have been pleased, bpetersxx, to get a reply from the man himself! I'm pleased he's still alive and well and hope that Rex Garrod is too.

Petey - I have no idea whether the machine will even run when it arrives hopefully later this week, but I'm looking forwards to it too. It's not quite the sought after `purple' Hotpoint but I think essentially it's a very similar machine.

Regards

Nick

"I hope I managed to convey some of my enthusiasm for these ingenius contraptions"

Makes you think huh?

Enthusiasm!!!

He certainly does that with the washers and vacs etc...

The pics at the end of the washers in a stack some being used is priceless as is the vacuums...only if you can stand all those lovely appliances being abused....the sight of that connie with a rocket inside it being flown into space...Aaahhhhhhh!!!!

The next step is to check your knowledge count:

LEVEL One = Name The Manufacturers
LEVEL Two = Manufacturers & Model Number
LEVEL Three = Manufacturers, Model Number & Year of Production
