So I saw this on my local CL. Do you think this is a reasonable price? I am almost tempted to buy it... I think they are really neat machines!

$225 it would need to be in VERY good condition.  It does look promising from the pics, appears very clean and doesn't seem to be even any rusting around edges of the lid.  The problem areas on these are:

1)  Rusting under the top.  The clamps on all the dispenser hoses running around under the top are *always* rusted, that's not so much an issue, they can be replaced.  More of a concern is heavy rusting on the frame.

2) Smutz accumulation due to mis-use (foul odor?).  Remove the rear panel to check if there appears to be considerable residue in the tub sump.

3)  Potential bad u-joint and boot, although there may not be a problem if the machine nutates and spins OK and the wash plate doesn't appear off-kilter.  The catch on determining this 100% is that a visual inspection is required, which requires disassembly, which can be an issue itself.

4)  Pump condition.

I paid $175 for mine ($350 for the pair) 6 years ago, and the washer did need full refurbishment.  Parts are MUCH more expensive now. A u-joint kit was $103 at the source I used, now is $250 there (although a different source lists $192).

Unfortunately, the choice nowadays if one wants a Calypso is pretty much to take what can be found and be prepared to deal with it.

If power is available and the seller allows it, nutation and spinning can be tested via diagnostic mode.  The pump can also be run to determine that it *does* run but water is needed for a proper pump test.  Raising the top requires pulling off the center badge in the decorative front strip (it presses on/off into the soft/rubbery strip) and removing a long 1/4" hex screw.

Would I pay $225?  Possibly, if it passes inspection ... but I'd try some negotiation on the point that the machine hasn't been produced for upwards of 8 years and parts are expen$ive.

Thanks for the helpful and informative reply. I ended up passing it up because the seller would not get back with me. Oh well!
