As best i can remember, you are correct. Some years ago i remember MT having an issue with the "pull to start" on that timer. It sounds quite likely that may be your problem (cant be sure). I remember seeing some and i would pull, then pull again then it would start. Some i had to pull hard and it was like starting a car with a dead battery. CRANK, CRANK, then it would go faster and faster and run. Some i could not get to start at all.

Make sure you get the correct one, we replaced one in July and the wrong timer was in the correct box and when we installed it it blew the dryness board out, I ended up taking the complete control panel and wiring harness from a non PTS MT dryer and just changed out the orignal panel and wiring harness to save the otherwise good dryer.

did some more reading seem the thermal switches fail and the machine has been running hot since like a dummy I haven't cleand out the duct work in years.. poor machine has a long run of duct work to vent it and it was about 2/3 the way clogged up oopps. so replaced all that today and waiting for switches hope that's it. I so don't want to do a motor.

finally she lives. was reading online there was someone who what same issue said to check the thermal fuses the machine has two of them and it has been running hot for a while now. so I ordered them and took all the duck work down and out for a cleaning it was more than half way clogged up with lint, so did all the put the two fuses in and she lives again. its my fault I let the duct get to full.. my bad
