Hi, this is an early model, but I'm not sure which. Ad says price is $24.95? Not sure if that's a misprint or.not. The store is closed now so I cant confirm. It may be gas, but not sure. It just popped up a couple hours ago. If anyone does want it I'll be glad to pick up & hold for them. Let me know. I will be calling in the morning.

If $24.95 is for real, that is an amazing price for such a rare machine.  Someone here has got to be interested.

That is a 1954-1956 model 61C forced air electric dryer. Quite rare. The "port" in the lower right-hand corner is the lint drawer. If this were a gas model there would be an access panel on the top in the rear-rh corner for access to the valve and ignitor.

Thanks Mark for clarifying the model. You guessed right...I thought the lint drawer was an access panel for a gas burner. :)

Is the airflow system in this model similar to the Halo of Heat models?

No. Quite different.  These dryers were much more similar to the early Hamilton/GE low airflow dryers.

Hamilton Dryer

That explains the access port in the top right hand corner for a gas model. We had a 1960something Hamilton Gas Dryer growing up, and the gas burner access was in the same position.

We had that dryer forever!! It was built like a tank. When it finally did break my mom decided it was time for a new one. We got a GE gas dryer; it was just as good and lasted as long as the Hamilton.

There's a club member . . .

. . . here in Winston-Salem that has this dryer, and it's gas fired. Needs some repair.

Early MT Dryer

These early MT dryers actually were better performers than the HOH models, they had a larger drum and did not expose the clothing to the intense heat that the HOH models did. The HOH dryers were more durable however and normally would last longer than these early models, the biggest weak area in the early models was the blower bearing, pulley, shaft and impeller itself.

If someone who has an AMP washer is looking for a matching dryer, this would be a great addition to their collection. These are MUCH easier to get running than the original Water Film dryers that were in production from 1953 through 1955.

The Price Is Right!!

Yes, it is $24.95, and is still available. If someone does want this I will only be able to pick it up either tomorrow or Sat. I will not have another opportunity to get it until next Friday at the earliest., so if someone really wants it let me know.
