Clever system, also seems pretty efficient. Though, I do wish they'd do away with those weird ratings such as MEF, and just stick to straight-up power consumption for one load of X lbs. on Y cycle settings (which can be translated to watt-hours per pound of laundry) and also publish data for the full range of cycle settings, i.e. "minimum is Q, maximum is R."
Home Depot has the white model on sale for $1499 plus up to $200 off if you open up a account with them. The extended warranty isn't bad also. 3 years for $59.00 and 5 years for $89.00.
