Interesting... I've never seen a Kenmore-badged GE clone washer or dryer like this.   Is this a photo of a Canadian set??

I recall that some of the late-80s, early-90s 'Capri' dishwashers that Sears offered here in Canada were GE (Camco) clones and I actually own (in the condo in Montreal) a 2000 Sears refrigerator that's a GE rebadge.

I've seen GE clones in Sears stores in the past. Not many mind you, but enough to notice. At the time, I had given up on appliances because it seemed that they were all in a never-ending downward spiral and I had no idea that there were others like me out there. It felt like Ford was putting its badges on Chevrolets and Buicks.

its not uncommon for ones like Sears/Monkeywards/Gibson etc. to put their badges on other units....

it becomes funny when people don't understand when it comes to service one, YOU and I understand it could be a WCI machine underneath, all the customer understands is that its a KENMORE...and your talking Greek to them....

their buying the name, not necessarily the quality....as if everything with a Kenmore name, is forever the best value!....

Remember them

as well I believe some had a speed switch and people were changing speeds when the machine was in cycle and did some collateral damage.

GE Kenmores

Were mostly a Canadian product. I don't remember seeing any full size units like that in US stores or catalogs. The only non WP units were Stacked and early FL units.
This may sound crazy but I never have considered a non-Whirlpool Kenmore washer to be a real Kenmore.

When I lived in Florida (Ft Lauderdale and Hollywood) ,I worked at Incredible Universe a Tandy corp. Company that sold electronics , audio video and appliances. The GE rep we had,Elizabeth, showed us the new line of non filter flow, plastic tub washers being introduced. She told us that Sears was about to launch new laundry products and were making a few different ones for Sears hooping to get their foot in the door for mass production. In fact, the lids on the first GE plastic tub models and Hotpoint had the finger loop to allow them to make the Kenmores able to stay up like the original Whirlpool made automatics. GE was able to get some ranges, dishwashers and refrigerators from Sears but,not laundry. L.G., Electrolux, and Samsung out bid them. Whirlpool got a real slap in the face and the rest is history. I doubt seriously that Sears and KMart are going to be in business much longer. Sad,so sad.
