Hi all, I am wondering whom some of you have used to have a vintage appliance shipped to you. I have found a frigidaire dish washer that I would like to own only to realize it 2500 miles away. Its it feasible to have something like that packaged and shipped? What company will go pick up and package securely for the trip. How long does it take to habe something come from the west coast to the east?

Hello Neighbor...

I guess it depends on many things...

Lately I have used uship or freightquote to have washers delivered both to my home or the local terminal.

What is interesting is that it seams like everyone likes nice even round 4 5 6 Hundred dollars for most any distance...strange but true.

I got the new Easy Spindryer on ebay a while back....it was 300 from Mason (City) Iowa thru freightquote; and I just got the RCA from Michigan on ebay...it will be here for 500 thru uship.

I also have gotten quotes, and then went only halfway across the country, let the seller meet me, and give them a few hundred.

Sometimes on here members will arrange for pickups and deliveries...Kind of Nice.

Just tell what, you want to go where, someone might be able to help.

Good Luck,
Eddy

PS: Going to try a pick of the Easy in the garage,...remodeling almost done.

Her name escapes me, but there is a truck driver who regularly hauls machines for members here at reasonable rates.  You may be able to find her if you use the "super searchalator" option at the top right of the forum index page and type "shipping" or "shipper" in the search field.

The shipper's name is Jackie Dempere - email:   jdempere@msn.com    She's on the west coast (Washington, I believe) and does all kinds of transport across the US.

She'll be bringing me a dishwasher from South Carolina sometime soon!

I am working with DeAnn Campbell at You Crate to have a dishwasher shipped from the Chicago area. They are certainly not the cheapest, but their customer service has been excellent (especially that of DeAnn). You can go to the you crate website and they will get you a rough quote in about 15 minutes.

I will check into that as well. Jackie is not going close enough to pick that unit in California up. She is goin within 150 miles of my house though on her way thru nc. I really would like a mid 60s dish washer to go with our mid 60 double oven and fridge
