Where ever did you find such

an exquisite machine?? I'm a firm believer that all washers and dryers should have a beautiful chrome band for their
large dials to occupy. Not to mention a dryer that has high-
med-low-off temp control!!!! Jetcone that is soooo cooool!!!

WOOHOO!!! Congratulations Jon on the awesome new machine!! I don't know what's better...the fact that it's a BLACKSTONE dryer, that the stainless steel absolutely GLEAMS, or that it has never been used!!! That drum looks huge, and the "hamper-door" design is the absolute best! How creative to have the opening length adjustable!

Fred's family ran Acme Electronics for aeons and when I was there getting parts, Lena ( Fred's gracious Mom) happened to mention they had not one but 2 new dryers sitting in their box crates from 1958! Never opened, never sold! I was drooling literally. One was electric the other was gas.
The short version is -John Lefever wanted the gas I took the electric model. We picked them up on Saturday and we apologized to Lena for being so late ( 50 years late in getting them ) as we were both very young in the 1950's and as such we had no money then! So she excused our tardiness and we happily corrected the situation by buying them on the spot from Fred her son and loading them onto our trucks ASAP!

Here is a shot of Lena inside the store--OH ROBERT, she has lots of vacuum tubes in the box look up>>

Jon - locations like that are places where dreams come true, and this little treasure chest is no exception! Amazing the two dryers in their crates all this time. A message to us all - keep looking. Thanks for posting and sharing this expirence. It is similar to New Years Eve when I found the '59 Kelvinator - that same sort of hole-in-the-wall shop. Too Cool!

Mike: the vent at the top is called the HUMID-I-VENT and the instructions give you the option of outdoor venting or having nice humid dryer air aimed around your basement for warmth!

TrainGuy& Customline: Very interesting box lettering, we think it was just advertising to compete with the Combos coming out, but Blackstone never made a true combination. Combining their dryer with their washer and ironer was a complete laundry system for the modern home.

Toggle yes it is a mib DRYER!

Agiflow: its a real high thats for sure! And I thought it would be over once we opened the box ---nu-ugh! It was more exciting seeing that chrome glistening in the sunlight knowing no one had seen it in 50 years! That was a rush.

Peter: now you'll have to come to see the collection. I'll try to get everything up and running this spring (thats saying alot!!), we are over due for a big wash-in in Melrose!

Hi Brent

jetcone's profile picture
thank you! Robert is commanding me not to turn the dryer on until he can get here to smell it first! I told him to get on a plane!

The other unit behind the dryer is not a washer! But I am working on a 250 Model right now that I also got from Fred.

I know what the M W/O B find is...

You and John L. did get the goods, but luckily there was a little something lying around for me too.

Jon sent me a picture tonight of the very first Blackstone automatic washer, which is the very first top-loading automatic washer EVER!! Jon will keep this safe for me for a while but I can't wait to see it in person...

Jon & John, congratulations. It's taken me this long to mentally deal with all this. After spending Fri. night with Roger's Blackstone & opening this thread up Sun. eve at the hotel, I was in overload. Jon, thank you so very much for the thoughtfullness of taking the close-up shots. BTW, is the small knob to the left of the timer a temperature control--curious since in the photoed position, it says "off". I'm all a-tingle!! And a nice drop-down door too!
