Well another wonderful addition to my appliance family is another Hitachi Portable, replacing the old and buggered one i had earlier. This one is nice and clean and more modern than the other one. I ahve pics which i will post but i am having trouble uploading the video footage (with commentary by me ), Putfile is not wanting to upload it and i don't know what else to do. Any advice would be great.
Enjoy the pics for now
Matt

Good find there. Interesting that they have the control panel under a lid; could keep it from getting splashed. Also seems as if the controls offer some interesting flexibility in terms of selecting partial cycles (presumably that's a "semi automatic mode" where you reset the timer to different positions during the process, depending on what you want it to do).

Re. the agitation: is that a conventional USA agitation pattern (i.e. continuous reciprocating) or is it intermittent (pauses between changes of direction)? Or more like a pulsator with longer periods of rotation between pauses?

the agitatiion is intermittent with a big burst of agitation one way, pause, then back the other way. I will have another go at uploading the video tonite.

Nice machine Matt!

I love the dial that lights up - kinda reminds me of Miele's ;-). So is the Whirlpool serving as a good worktop in your laundry room?

heheh, actually my newish dryer is serving as a worktop. The same woman who gave me the hitachi also offered me a dryer, tho she did not specify a brand. I said i would think about it when i saw it, so i went along and its a british Bendix dryer. Small and with a drop down door but still a good little dryer.

that is the exact same model my dad has. He had to pay $300 to get it repaired after sparks came from the motor. It ended up the pump leaked over the motor somehow

Hi Matt

Cute dryer, thats a late 70`s style Bendix, 6lb load, super airflow and quiet as well, Do you have it vented through the wall??

Mike:, no, at the moment it just blows on to the wall behind it becuase the room behind it is a bedroom. However i am going to start positioning it so that it blows out of the laundry door becuase i do see condensation on the wall when it is in operation.

Pretty good there. And you have a nice voice too.

That unit seems to have a continuous motion rather than the twirl-pause-twirl-pause action of some of the portable units these days. Does the gentle cycle do likewise?

Wow, that machine agitates a lot stronger than I thought!! Nice thrash-action there...very fun!! Thanks for posting!

Gentle Action and Drain

mattywashboy's profile picture
Hi guys,
i have added another vid of the gentle action and drain. It clicks into gentle action in the last one minute of the agitation on wash and rinse. This i believe is to sort of even the clothes out so that the spin is balanced. It has a very sensitive OOB control so i can never leave the house while it is on for fear of OOB.
Anyways enjoy,
Matt

Boing! The link you provided is to a login page for users.

Re. gentle cycle for evening out the load before spin: yeah I've noticed that also, one can switch to the gentle setting to get a load to distribute evenly in the water if it's starting to bunch up on the normal (strong) cycle.
