I'm reposting this from the Easy thread since I don't think anybody had seen it (maybe I shouldn't have bumped a two-year-old thread XD). I hope that's okay!

'Hi everybody! A junk dealer friend of mine passed this over to me with the wager that if I could make it run I'd pay him fifty dollars and own it. If I can't make it run, I can do whatever I want with it and pay nothing... obviously, I plan to get it running!

I've replaced the dry-rotted drain hoses with new ones, made sure that the agitator and the drier basket both spin wonderfully (and it's such a quiet machine, too!) but the drain pump isn't moving the few cupfuls of 'test' water out of the wash tub. The drain hoses aren't blocked (I tested), so I'm pretty sure it's the pump.

A round rubber belt (I'm 90% sure it's the pump belt) is hanging loose from an arm inside, and I can't see where it MUST attach to something else.

Can someone help me guess what year and model this is? I want to guess that it's a SSK-1. Also, does anybody have a labeled diagram or photograph of how the belt should be installed?

Thanks for the great forum!'

Yes..

your basic problem is that the pump is missing in action.

The round belt would fit that pulley and attach to the pump. You
should also be able to reach up underneath and find the two control
cables that would have been attached to the pump from the front
control levers.

Aaaah, I was afraid of that... I got it into the living room where I could turn it over and really look beneath and I could see the bolt holes where the pump presumably used to be screwed in place.

Welp, I guess I can always just use a bucket until I find a replacement pump! Thanks for your help!

So far my search for a pump isn't going very well. I certainly don't expect one to just fall out of the sky for me, but I didn't expect to be quite this stymied either!

Does anyone have a spare pump that I can purchase? And if not, is there a pump that I can jerry-rig into working with my Easy? I'd appreciate any ideas!

Your best bet would probably be finding another complete parts machine.

That's a really good point! My Google-fu just doesn't seem to be as powerful as I thought! I figured it would take a few months at least to find a pump, but I didn't think I'd run out of resources in the first week! XD I'm gonna ask the guy who gave it to me to keep an eye out for another and check with my dad's people in Tennessee when I go home for Christmas next week. Thanks and good luck on that poppy red set, jetcone!

Thank you Risky

also if I see a parts machine locally I'll chime in here. They do tend to pop up much more so than a Poppy Frigidaire set for sure.  You'll find it.

Thanks! I work with a few guys that do estate sales pretty religiously, will ask them to keep an eye out for anything someone here might enjoy.

Hi Risky

Sorry your pump is missing. While you are looking for a new one, now is the time to lube all of these cables up. Make sure that each one of the length of each cable is lubed as well as the place that they fit into and all works well.
If your spinner tub still has its rubber boot over the bottom of the spinner shaft, lift it up and put a few drops of oil on the movable part at the bottom.
Also put a bit of Vaseline on the top of the Spiralator block.
Happy washing soon. Gary

Hey Misha,

As you are having difficulty finding an original pump, do you want to keep it 100% original or would you consider retro-fitting a different pump?   I would suggest getting an electric pump from a newer washing machine.   I was planning to do with my Easy (the pump had seized) before I gave it to a friend.

Kevin

Thanks everybody! Jetcone, I sent you a private message. :)

I'll be taking it apart to lube everything up and do a final check before attempting to really run a load through it. Thanks for the tip about the agitator block, abcomatic! I'd given some thought to trying to mount a generic pump in there, but I'm only so confident in my kludging skills so far...
