I was going to do this friday night, but just didn't get to it. As some of you may know, I brought home a '63 Kenmore 600 and a'72 Whirpool 3 speed dryer a week ago today.(see thread 5683) My buddy who I get all my old appliances from, called me friday morning, telling me about a dryer at Salvation Army, that was CHERRY, and that I HAVE to go see it. well, I couldn't get away from work and told him that if he thought it was a must, go back and get it, let me know the details. He calls back later, and come to find out, its a white '64 Kenmore 70 High speed! I got to his shop, and he showed it to me. I about fell over, all I could say is I HAVE TO HAVE IT! He said the only thing wrong, was the belt had come off it. EVERYTHING works perfectly( it takes a special rubber belt) The control panel darn near matches the 600 washer, with a few minor cosmetic differances. It has 3 timed cycles: Normal-yellow,[5-70 minutes] Wash-N-Wear-Pink,[5-45 minutes] Delicate-Turquoise [5-35 minutes] Infinate Temp dial, with: Air, Delicate, Warm, Medium, WNW, High markings. Has odor neutralizing scent bottle( with juice too!)and a drum light!! Its very quiet running, other than hearing the high powered fan running. From what I was told, the Temps on these kind of dryers are a bit hotter. I really think this was a grandma's dryer, that only used it on sundays. Its the newest and cleanest looking dryer I've ever seen of this age! I thought it was never used by the looks of it.(even my buddy who I got it from thought so too!)The appliance gods were looking out for me on this one! Truely a RARE find! I will get pictures of both side by side as soon as possible. Rich |
