Thanks, Ralph, for running Maytag into the ground. Thanks, Ralph, for cutting and running. Thanks, Ralph, for destroying an American icon and then SELLING IT TO YOUR FORMER EMPLOYER! Does anyone else find that last one odd? He comes from WP and sells the co. to WP! Nice to see that he was responsible for integrating Amana. We all know how nice & dependable those SAV washers were. I hope he doesn't choke on his golden parachute. I do not work directly for Maytag, but we've sold them for over 70 years. So, yeah, I'm a little bitter. GOOD RIDDANCE, RALPH!

Ralph deserves severence, all right, starting with the cords to his golden parachute and then moving on to his anatomy. His Board of Directors deserves the same. |

Of course the f***ing weasel wants out. He won't be able to run the show anymore and he will have to deal with the ghosts from his past. |

Well, actually, I think the alternatives to the WP merger - either to a group of disinterested investors, or to a Chinese conglomerate, were not as good as the Whirlpool deal. In particular, I think the sale to a group of bean counters would have driven Maytag even further into the ground. With either them or the Chinese, I think we would have seen Haiers rebadged as Maytags. At least with Whirlpool it has a fighting chance to restore some luster to the Maytag name. |

Not to mention restoring quality and keeping American Jobs. With Whirlpool doing only a minimal amount of outsourcing (at least so far) we might have a fighting chance of keeping most of this industry right here. |

I just saw this in an article. Quote "Hake, who sold his home in Newton last month, has a change of employment package that awards him more than $12 million in the event of significant changes in job duties." I had never seen a figure before. yeah well. WAY OFF TOPIC & IN THE WRONG FORUM: I am going to be selling off the 1963 coppertone Lady Kenmore's that I had posted about last summer. The washer has a water leak, but if you have an old beltdrive laying around, you could probably fix it right up. they are not perfect that's for sure. My new warehouse is bursting at the seams. I need to start getting rid of a lot things. The dryer works but has a chip out of the porcelain. I do not have a price on them. It'll be best offer or ebay, not sure. If anyone is interested, just let me know. If you are in southcentral PA and want to look at it, just let me know as well. CLICK HERE TO GO TO runematic's LINK |

i don't want to be too pessimistic here (there are enough folks screaming, which is why i am whispering today) but if the way whirlpool destroyed the quality of bauknecht is any sign, then Maytag is already lost. whirlpool combines all the worst aspects of the business world with none of the positive. Maytag would have been better off with the chinese...they are profit motivated and the in-duh-vi-duals running whirlpool only by their own personal profit. what they do to the company is irrelevant to them. very sad.
