Hey
I just came by a Maytag E2LPS that has been sat out in the desert for a few years. The motor and wheels are missing but apart from that and needing the paint buffing up it is in good shape. My problem is the agitator will not pull off. Am I missing something ?
Regards
Mick

No your not missing anything, it a common problem. The agitator is supposed to be removed when not in use to prevent that from happening. When it dose, then depending...there are several ways to remove it. Others will chime in soon to tell you how.
For now.. Don't beat on it or get to aggressive, you don't want to bend or damage the post that it sits on.
You do need to get it off to see if there's holes under it (if so your going to need a new tub) if not, you still need to be able to access the lint screen under it (if it has one) and the hole that it drains from..incase it's clogged.
For now, try putting in about 6 inches of very hot water, allow to sit for 10 mins, then pull straight up.
If that works, then be sure to clean (fine steel wool) and lubricate, both inside the agitator, and the shaft in sits on.
If it doesn't... Hang in there, help is on the way.
Here is where you'll find access to parts, info, and how to's

Stan

P.S you model may be the one that came with a rubber bulb, that you had to step on to make the wringer rollers turn. If so you can by pass that, but We'l get to that later.
