The piece of trim behind the oven door handle seems to be something that was added at some point, not taken away. It is not shown in the 1971 or 1972 full-line catalogs, which show the earlier door handle, which was a brushed metal look, not the woodgrain handle that you correctly note came later. No models shown in those two catalogs have that trim piece.
I have not seen this before, so you've pointed out something very interesting! There are earlier ovens that use a similar trim piece in bright metal, but they are not P*7 self-cleaning, and seem to date from around 1965, far earlier than this wall oven. One is shown below. And as you know, 1960s versions with P*7 didn't have the trim piece; your 1966 yellow double oven doesn't have it. So, verrry inter-esting! |

I uploaded some photos. Someone please let me know if they look ok. I emailed the seller with interest in the washer&dryer and they sent me the photos. I also asked if it was $1 for all or each piece. Here is the response i got along with the photos. "Hey, thanks for your interest. No, $1 is not the price. I just had to put a number their to post the ad. I am taking offers on the complete kitchen set. The dryer is electric. Both appear to have never been used. I do have manuals. Thanks"
Please for give me if there are duplicate photos. |

Mysteries like this trim piece are the reason I'd just about give my left nevermind for a full set of GE product catalogs from at least 1957 through, say, 1980.
I have only 1957 *, 1967 *, 1971 * and 1972. I have some info on other years pieced together from magazine ads, etc., but it's not like having catalogs that really nail things down year by year. Someday. Someday. * These years are available on Automatic Ephemera, at a cost far lower and a resolution far better than vintage print copies. The 1967 catalog was recently made available by Dean robinsondm. The '72 catalog was posted by Ken bajaespuma at the link: CLICK HERE TO GO TO danemodsandy's LINK |

Sweet! Wow, I would love to know if there is a story behind these appliances and why they look as if never used. That Kenmore W&D set is awesome! I hope you get those, Super32. Good luck, James |

I will let you know what happens.. they want to sell the whole lot, I only want the washer and dryer.... the dishwasher looks like it was never used, the oven looks clean, not sure about the cook top.. but if I have to get all of them for the washer and dryer at a reasonable price I will take them all... I will let you know how it works out......Jim
