The shine on that dishwasher door liner leads me to believe that thing was never used.

What a great set! All matching, all like new! Wow. I wonder what they want for them... But you would have an all in one matching total set in pristine condition!

I am thinking early 70s? Has the wood grain oven handle, but still has the trim piece behind the handle, that was not included on the later versions of this stove.

The ad says 1973. Sounds like someone needs to bid, Jeff. :)

The piece of trim behind the oven door handle seems to be something that was added at some point, not taken away. It is not shown in the 1971 or 1972 full-line catalogs, which show the earlier door handle, which was a brushed metal look, not the woodgrain handle that you correctly note came later. No models shown in those two catalogs have that trim piece.

I have not seen this before, so you've pointed out something very interesting! There are earlier ovens that use a similar trim piece in bright metal, but they are not P*7 self-cleaning, and seem to date from around 1965, far earlier than this wall oven. One is shown below. And as you know, 1960s versions with P*7 didn't have the trim piece; your 1966 yellow double oven doesn't have it.

So, verrry inter-esting!

Very interesting, I was assuming that GE went right from the chrome ribbed trim on the earlier model to the trim on this avocado model... it seems that they reintroduced it, validating the saying that what's old is new again! But it must not have lasted long, my house had a late 70s/early 80s model of this oven (in your favorite almond, Sandy!) and it has the wood grain handle, but no trim behind.

The dinner dial on the aqua set in the photo is the coolest set up overall!

Let me know if this works

super32's profile picture

I uploaded some photos. Someone please let me know if they look ok. I emailed the seller with interest in the washer&dryer and they sent me the photos. I also asked if it was $1 for all or each piece. Here is the response i got along with the photos.  "Hey, thanks for your interest. No, $1 is not the price. I just had to put a number their to post the ad. I am taking offers on the complete kitchen set. The dryer is electric. Both appear to have never been used. I do have manuals. Thanks"

Please for give me if there are duplicate photos.

Mysteries like this trim piece are the reason I'd just about give my left nevermind for a full set of GE product catalogs from at least 1957 through, say, 1980.

I have only 1957 *, 1967 *, 1971 * and 1972. I have some info on other years pieced together from magazine ads, etc., but it's not like having catalogs that really nail things down year by year.

Someday. Someday.

* These years are available on Automatic Ephemera, at a cost far lower and a resolution far better than vintage print copies. The 1967 catalog was recently made available by Dean robinsondm. The '72 catalog was posted by Ken bajaespuma at the link:

Shipping

Does anyone have an idea what it would cost to ship the washer&dryer from GA to MA?

Sweet!

Wow, I would love to know if there is a story behind these appliances and why they look as if never used. That Kenmore W&D set is awesome! I hope you get those, Super32.

Good luck,
James

no deal

To anyone else interested in the W&D, i have back away from them. After some investigation of shipping or driving down to GA from the Boston MA area, it would cost more than i wanted to spend :(

I will let you know what happens.. they want to sell the whole lot, I only want the washer and dryer.... the dishwasher looks like it was never used, the oven looks clean, not sure about the cook top.. but if I have to get all of them for the washer and dryer at a reasonable price I will take them all... I will let you know how it works out......Jim
