Vintage Early Stainless Steel KitchenAid Hobart Stand Mixer Model "K" w/ Whisk. I have never seen one this old in Chrome or as the ad says Stainless Steel. Nice mixer but hefty price!
Ad reads:
Up for Sale is a Vintage Hobart KitchenAid Mfg. Co. Model K Stand Mixer with wire whip/whisk attachment.
The Hobart Manufacturing Company introduced the KitchenAid Model "K" stand mixer in 1937, designed by Egmont Arens.
The serial number is listed on the side as 565854. The mixer was produced in Troy Ohio, U.S.A.
Condition: the mixer runs in all 3 speeds, but should probably be serviced if going to use regularly. There are some light surface scratches/chips, and the bowl has some spotting/rust, due to age. The chord is in good condition with some cracking due to age. CLICK HERE TO GO TO chachp's LINK on eBay |

I read that when Hobart designed their first smaller mixer, an executive brought one home for his wife to try. He asked her about it sometime later and she said that it was the best kitchen aid she had ever used and thus was born the name. |

....For several years to get eBay to require the correct use of the term "Stainless Steel." Present-day sellers associate anything vaguely shiny-silvery with the current "stainless look" and think either the item must be stainless or that it's okay to call it that, which it's not.
The term "Stainless Steel" applies legally (Federal law) to certain alloys of steel, chromium and nickel, not aluminum, chrome-plate, silver vacuum-plated plastic, silverplate or pewter - all of which I've seen listed as "Stainless Steel" on eBay at some point. It's really kind of a dismal situation. |
