Hi all!

I stopped this set (and a harvest Hotpoint fridge) from being thrown away. I know *nothing* about Hotpoint appliances, and haven't found a whole lot online about them from this era. This appears to be a top of the line set, and as I write this, I can't BELIEVE I didn't take money shots. More to come as I clean them up. Meanwhile, I'd love to know what you know! And naturally, any advice/personal experience. <3

Nice Set

Glad you saved the set!  I don't think the washer is TOL, but is nicely equipped.  Yours appears to have 4 water levels and I think the TOL model would have had the 'Handwash' feature with an infinite water level control.  I do like the 'Hotpoint' lid; not long after this pair this side-hinged lid was abandoned and Hotpoint started using the standard GE rear-hinged lid.

Those are still new looking! Good save. So one saved and how many were scrapped this month or last year because someone like yourself wasn't around? These have a nice style - did you run a load through yet?

I love how simple and straight forward the controls are on this washer.

These are a GE washer & dryer, solid middle of the line with a great set of features.  Very durable.  Someone obviously took great care of these.  Could have been very light use over the years.  Hopefully you will get many more years of service out of them.

Oooh nice save. Yes, a money shot of the washer, please. Do you have a straight vane or spiral agitator?

My Hotpoint was the top of the line for its time (1974) and has a few more options but your model's feature set were the bread and butter of the Hotpoint name for many years. The consoles and lids changed, but they had a solid following. Plus you found the matching dryer, I'm stuck with wet clothes and stubbornly stained cuffs and collars.

Congrats again, very good machines.

All of the machines pictured above may sport a Hotpoint badge, still I can't help but imagine them in their Penncrest trim on the sales floor.  I didn't realize that when those machines were made, Hotpoints didn't look like GE knock-offs.

looking set there Peter. You must have had fun with those at home.

Im surprised the lid is so different than a  GE, its got a curve to the edge like a Westinghouse TL

Wow!

Thank you all for the responses! I didn't know Hotpoint and GE were in bed together then, it makes sense now. They kind of reminded me of the Filer-Flo set I got from Lawrence. Hi Lawrence!

The brochure is wonderful, thank you, Peter. Very inspiring.

Some money shots after delivery but before cleanup. I'm tempted to make a mini-kitchen on my patio here now, they're so handsome. :)

Hello too to Quincyman, isn't this weather amazing?

Very Pretty

This is the later 70's and early 80's 'Heavy Duty' agitator. With part numbers for both agitators, regular and handwash.

Very nice! I never saw any of these under the Hotpoint name, only Penncrest. I can remember watching a demo in a JC Penney store umpteen years ago. I often wondered how the lint filter cleans itself?

Good to see you posting!  I realized after responding that this was you.

The light fixture looks right at home with the washer and dryer.  Do you plan to put them (the washer and dryer) into use?  They look great!  And, they should be very, very similar to the pair you bought from me.
