I might be getting a house, and was wondering about the d/w. It has a Whirlpool that I think is a 2009 (when the house was built) and it seems to be very BOL. It has just a knob and a rocker switch for energy saver I think. It also has the Energy Star logo. My parents have a Kenmore Ultra Wash Quiet Guard from the late 90s that I assume is made by Whirlpool, it has never needed any repairs. Just wondering how newer Whirlpools stack up reliability and performance wise.

I haven't had a long term Whirlpool in years but from what I read they have some of the best reliability ratings in the industry, if not THE best. The BOL machines can turn out to be the best since they generally have less to go wrong, more simplicity. I would def give it a chance!
They will clean adequately if you preheat the water by draining the hot water line before starting the unit and use a quality detergent in it. Make sure you load your items to be washed properly too. It may be loud enough to wake the dead, but you'll have clean dishes.
