Wringer Prices

I can't speak for GE's, but for Post War MaytagWringers I think:

  • a price under $60 favors the buyer,
  • a price over $60 favors the seller.
  • over $125 needs serious justification,
  • anything over $150 is insane (unless TRULY rare like a factory timer - almost unheard of on a Maytag)

Congratulations on Your New Washer

If you have not used a wringer washer previously, try to read up on the safety rules to prevent injury. You can search "wringer washer safety" in this forum's Searchalator. Never let your fingers get near the rollers when the wringer is operating. Push laundry up the feed board with your fingers well back from the leading edge of the fabric or use a wash stick to lift items out of the water and up to the wringer. Familiarize yourself with the emergency release mechanism of the wringer and practice using it from time to time. From time to time, there are wringer washer instruction books on eBay, mostly for Maytags, but other brands, too. Try to buy one or become a member here so that you can buy one from the collection of appliance literature. You will learn about the safety and maintenance procedures that will help you enjoy your washer.

Welcome to the wringer washer club, Nelson! I have three in my collection (2 Maytag, 1 Kenmore). Tell me - is yours with a full skirt or long legs? Please post some pics if/when you get the chance!

Hope you enjoy using it - I love mine.
