Where would it be possible to buy a new timer or have the one repaired that is already on it.? The model number is DG 303 by Maytag. Thanks for your help. Gary |

Those timers are virtually impossible to rebuild. The timer in that dryer is part #306483. It was also used on the DE/G 312 models. My searches are not coming up with anything under $100 for that timer.
Are you absolutely certain that the timer is bad? Does it work properly on the "Air Fluff" cycle? If it DOES work on "Air Fluff" but not on the automatic cycles you have a bad cycling thermostat instead of a bad timer. |

THE timer buzzes at the end of the cycle in the off position and continues to buzz, but the dryer contiunes to heat and run. Any more ideas? Thanks, Gary |

I take it this is one of the awful Robertshaw timers, back in the 60s-70sand 80s and beyond Maytag used a lot of crappy electrical parts in their washers, dryers and Dishwashers. They used lousy Kingston timers in washers and DWs, lousy Westinghouse motors in the W&Ds and the lousy Singer inlet valves in late 70s that caused more than a few floods on the ones that didn't just simply stop working.
These inferior parts that companies like Whirlpool and GE never used was really one of MTs biggest down falls, the things that MT built themselves usually did pretty well [ except anything plastic LOL ] |

@ combo52 OK, we get it, you hate everything Maytag. Please try to show some respect for those of us that like, repair, restore, and get excellent service from vintage Maytag appliances. All brands have their strong and weak points. Ken D. |

Hi Ken, Sorry if you found my post too negative, I certainly do not hate everything Maytag. My comments about component reliability problems on many Maytag appliances is offered as an historical history and to help us folks that are using and restoring MT appliances from the 60s and 70s today. If one of us is restoring and using a 1976 A606 for example my information might help them avoid problems with a Singer inlet valve or Westinghouse motor by saving them the trouble of trying to fix either one of these parts instead of just getting a better replacement.
Maytag is one of our favorite collectable appliance brands, we have approximately 8 pairs of MT laundry appliances starting with an orignal AMP pair and ending in the early 2000s with a stack gas Neptune washer-dryer, and two Maytag Combos.
It is true that when it comes my personal laundry room appliances there are no Maytag appliances in it as daily drivers. First and foremost I valve great performance in my laundry appliances, and since I am in the position to fix any problems that arise the great reliability of MT washers does not trump their just average performance for me. Several of the other primary collectors on this site also do not have any MT laundry appliances among their extensive collections for similar reasons, while many other collectors have extensive numbers of MT appliances.
Its all good, John L. |
