HI there,

I am wondering if anyone can provide information on the washing machine I have provided photographs of below. It's a Simpson Wringer.

I recently purchased this and would like to know when exactly it was manufactured, and if it was available in Australia in the mid 1950s.

Would greatly appreciate any information available, it's hard to find online,

Many thanks!

Hello Ellamae

Your Simpson look just like the one my Mum had when I was a kid.

They were built in Australia for many years, but by the look of the agitator in yours it's probably 1960's or even a bit later.

If you find a model number somewhere on the machine which you can photograph and post it would help others who may have more details.

Cheers.

Thanks so much for your quick response!

I will take a photo when I am next at home, and will be sure to let you know the model number.

In the mean time, do you know if the 1950s models of these machines look similar?

Thanks again!

Hi ellamae,

If you're able to provide a model number I can do some searching in the Simpson repair manuals I have which should give me an idea of a model year.

Thanks

Leon

Hi everyone,

thanks for your help so far. So I finally got the serial and model numbers:

Model number: 11-022-0
Serial number: 141 631

Made by Simpson Pope LTD.

I'm wondering, if this is indeed a later model than I had hoped for (remembering I was looking for something early-mid 1950s), would the differences in appearance have been vast? As in, would a later model of this same machine (say 1960s) look very different from a model of this machine made in the 1950s?

Thanks again!
