I haven't been on lately, because I had forgotten my password, but I finally remembered it...so here I am. I have a question. I have a KitchenAid Superba Vari-cycle KDS-15. The last time I used it, it worked fine. (It is part of my collection in my basement.) Recently, I put water in it and turned it on, and water is leaking near the motor. Can I still find the correct seals to reseal the motor? I know that some guys on here have done just that. Do you have the seals made or use recycled parts? Just curious. Here is a picture of the machine.

are you sure where the water is coming from ?

well is it leaking from the hose connecting to the drain solenoid or is it actually leaking from around the motor, if around the motor, its a little work to say the least, but you can pull the motor and cut a gasket out of cork from an auto parts store, you can also get some thin rubber to again also cut for the inside and cork on the outside (underneath). I used a "box cutter" knife to cut mine. The metal piece from inside the bottom when you take the bolts out will act as a template for you to put on to the piece of cork and rubber respectively to cut. I also used some gasket cement on the inside, I don't think mine will ever leak again. But first I would run the machine with the front lower access panel off, get a good flashlight to see exactly where the water is coming from. Good luck !

If you determine that the pump impeller seal is bad, that part is still available. In my KDI-15 it was bad and produced a fine mist around the entire motor.

Thanks for the ideas! I have taken off KA dishwasher motors before and I know what the gasket looks like, I just wasn't sure if they were still available and if not, how I could make one. It is possible that the discharge hose coming from above the motor leading to the drain valve could have a crack. I know that the hoses are hardened. Those are an easy fix...I do hope it's that.

Please be careful of any glues/cements/substances that come in contact with the recirculating water.
