Hi, I have a A208 that has a rinse cylce/agitator issue and if there's anything that I can try to get it going again or if it's time to move on to something new.

The problem happens when the washer goes into it's rinse cycle resulting in what smells like a melting belt along with louder than normal almost grinding sound. I got and replaced both belts but it didn't fix the issue. Next I removed the belts and tried to turn the center pully by hand only to find that it's very hard to turn counter clockwise. Clockwise is fine. I'm not sure if it's the transmission that has had it or if there's anything else it could be. I figured I'd ask you guys with experience for some input. I appreciate any help/advice. Thanks

Dan

I may have the direction of the pully reversed in the above post. I can turn the whole tub but not the reverse for the agitator alone.

You likely have a transmission that is locking up, BIG problem, it can be repaired, but this is the practical end of this washer unless you want to take on a big project.

combo52, thanks you so much for the reply. I was worried about it being the transmission. It's probably time to research what's new/okay these days.
