This is almost like voting which of your children you like best....(it's me, right, Mom?) But if push comes to shove, I'm a sucker for the 1958 Frigidaires in UniRobert's collection. That and any old-school Kelvinator/ABC-O-Matic. And those beautiful 1958 Kenmores someone in the group recently acquired.... OK, OK, the 1958 Frigidaires!! |

I happen to like the old slab sided Bendix bolt-downs. Uni's is nice but if I'm not mistaken, it's not fully restored. Or is it? Anyway, I agree, let's not vote on which one is best. It stands a very good chance of ending badly. Rather, let's just express what it is that we personally like, and leave it at that. Judge not! |

Hi Rich, my 1941 Bendix is fully resotred mechanically and is bolted to my basement floor. I use it quite often for bathroom rugs and other items like that. It probably could use a paint job, but I sort of like it's "patina". I agree, everyone's favorite is going to be different anyway so its silly to try and choose one. |

I thought the Italian Stove/Dishwasher/Refrigerator topped everything (Candy, 1980's). But this has everything...even a V12. Gosh, I only thought Jags had those. Beautiful...more pictures, pretty please? (And how does the drain work????) Wow! Oh, my favorite...there are too many wonderful machines out there to have a single favorite. The sound of a Unimatic, the simple lines of a classic Maytag, the mechanical "timer" on an early Blackstone. How to chose? You can't. |

I can't even remember which is which but like a magpie I'm drawn to shiny or colorful baubles, buttons, sliders etc. That GE sink/washer is so neat. Then there was that one that had the horizontal cycle guide that moved across, that was cool. Marks latest with the pop up guides was too. Then too the dispensomat model.

Panthera, I got that pic from the museum section of this site. That machine is not mine but here is the interior shot. Maybe some day I will be lucky enough to find one of those! |

That is great. I wonder if the drain was gravity or via pump. If pump, that would have made this a truly flexible piece of equipment. You could have put it literally anywhere. When I see stuff like this I wonder just how much creativity we have lost through the years...Today, if you want a clever solution you just about have to buy Chinese. Even here in Europe things are pretty much plain vanilla or, better, null-acht-fünfzehn. Wonder if any of these are still around? GE still understood quality in those days.
