Gosh, its April already, time for a new thread and we ain't fooling around here.
I post lots of ovens, lets try a Belling Hob. It might be in working condition but it could do with a clean. As with the Formula ovens of this vintage, the control panel cover is hinged for better access to the knobs under CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacbear58's LINK on eBay |

Lets look at the development of the Chefette Mixer. This was introduced in the early 1960s as a replacement of their Minor model from the 1950s. I don't believe this has much, if any, Kenneth Grange input (he worked on the design of Kenwood products for many, many years). This is a later production version of this model, the earlier ones were grey to match the chef models. Like all Chefette models, it included a small blender even if there is not one here

This is one of my all time favourite mixers and the Grange influence is very visible. As with the Chef, the same underlying mechanicals are presented in a much more modern form - well modern in 1966. This is a nice example as they can go yellow with age

Not much time left on this one, again a Grange design but updated in around 1973 or so. With some small modifications this design continued for some 30 odd years pretty much unchanged

These were sold all over Europe under different names and the last of the MR models were manufactured in Ireland. Mt mother had one of these (I still have it!) so they have a special significance for me. This also comes with recipe books and I was very pleased to snap up a percolator similar to the one shown in picture 2. I had quite forgotten about them till I saw the listing

Also looks in good condition, and the price is even better. What amazes me is that 11 bitches are watching it (I suppose 10 if you exclude me but once its posted here it will be down to 10) and no one is buying it at such a good price. Oh well ....

This is the single oven version of the TOL line for that period - mid 1980s. The TOL model has a row of lights the more of which light up the higher the temperature is - I always thought this a bit of a gimmick to be honest

Complete with blender, whisks and the not often seen dough making attachment - I cannot really call it a hook. Not a bad price although in my opinion a Chef or Mixmaster would probably be more use - if you actually WANTED to use it LOLOLOL

Hello vacbear58, as you know a lot about appliances from this era I thought it would be best to approach you with a question that I have, concerning a Russell Hobbs Coffee Maker 3307.
I managed to find this, brand new in it's box, at a local second hand shop, for £5. It had only been used once with water at the shop to PAT test it. So effectively, it's brand new. I was wondering if you or anyone else could put a finger on when it was manufactured. It states that it was made in West Germany, and therefore must have been built before the Berlin wall came down. It works brilliantly apart from a badly cracked lid that I can only assume has not enjoyed the best part of 25 years in storage! That is why in the picture, there is a cloth on top. So if anyone could tell me when it was made that would be great, and who wold have made it for Russell Hobbs? It makes lovely coffee by the way. Please do excuse the poor lighting and bad camerawork in the photo's. Thanks in advance hotpointfan |

Thank you for the compliment. I am afraid I don't know that much about coffee makers but I would have said from the colour and style of jug 1980s, and probably the first half rather than the second. Sometimes here and over in vacuumland people post scans of Argos catalogues and I think it would be very useful if you could get your hands on some of them to help in dating the machine. Unfortunately I have no idea who manufactured this but hopefully Louis (from Holland) or some of our German readers maybe able to help. Its a great find and great that it can have a home where it can be used and appreciated Al |

One mans meat .....
Quote from the ad "Buyer is more than welcome to take the hideous range cooker if they fancy (mostly works)". Personally I was drooling over that wonderful GEC Cavelcade which looks in better condition than the kitchen! Actually I wonder if the kitchen is late 1960s rather than 1970s and then the cooker might be original to it. It has been updated over the years with new sink and taps and perhaps also door handles. This kitchen would be so much more appealing, even if it's appealing as is, with some staging with lights. It must be cold where this kitchen resides. Where are the windows? It's a bit closed in looking with that one small jail cell window. My oh-pin-yun, only. :-) Interesting to see how the others live(d).

@Overphil
Phil, I am not sure its actually so dark as there seems to be windows behind the photographer, at least near the junction with the room next door. And the low ceiling is not helping either. I think that it is actually one great big room with the double depth/double access units forming the barrier between the two areas. The trend now, and its not a bad thing, would be not to have the cupboards above the sink so that the whole area is more open and airy. There is a thread running discussing the merits of open plan Vs closed kitchens but I am very much the opinion that open is better. I hate being stuck in the kitchen (and of course European kitchens tend to be smaller than US) with my guests in another room while I am cooking and I am so glad that finally I don't have that any more - although I will acknowledge that its better not to be entirely open to the living room as well. But thank you for your comments, always welcome :) Getting back to the kitchen, I think the "cupboard" over the range is actually a canopy. Underneath the cooker On/Off switch in picture 5 (with the phone charger or whatever it is plugged in) is a Vent Axia control panel. Along with Xpelair, Vent Axia were the major supplier of extractor fans at that time. Al |

For those of us "of a certain age" there were very familiar to those in the 1960s. My mother had the slightly larger 4 pint version rather than the 3 pint shown here and I thought the proportion of handle to kettle was better on the larger one.

Al - I think the photograph was taken by a giant or someone on a stepladder. The perspective seems nearer the ceiling. You're right - there's a light source there at the right.
Kitchens here are all open, if buying a newer home…last 2 we had built(what an experience), were open to the dining and living /morning rooms. It has been the trend here since we've been here, 1996. Thanks again. Phil |

Thanks for posting the great pictures, seems to me you will be needing to change those 1980s cabinets for something more in keeping both with the cooker and the other bits and pieces we can see there LOLOLOL Marmalade Gingerbread sounds interesting - I was just saying to Mike last weekend that I have not made ginger bread for YEARS - just whilst we were eating some McVities ginger cake. You don't see many of these although in my opinion this is expensive for what it is - I have one of these with a timer that cost me all of 99p. And the alignment of the spin can looks a bity off to me. The real pain with these is the drain hose which can crease at the point where it exits the machine (and it is much more flexible than say a Hoover hose ) and eventually break

But the classics keep on coming
This is a mid 1960s, very TOL kitchen. The hob has been replaced at some point so I wonder if it too might have been a Moffat as well as the oven. These Moffats were imported from Canada. The two large panels to the right of the hob are cooker control switches. Although the units overall seem very large a great deal of it was empty air - the actual switch itself is only slightly larger than the switches/socket. It actually unusual to see two of these together like this, normally you would only have one (the capacity is sufficient for a complete cooker) or just the switches and no sockets. This is a very advanced kitchen design for its time. I wonder what dishwasher or washing machine sat beside the sink? CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacbear58's LINK on eBay |

I will admit that I did not care at all for these when they were a current model, but I feel more positive about them now. Underneath the more stylised outer coat its is still the same excellent Neff oven underneath. They did this model in white and single oven version too

This rather left me stumped. I had always thought the EE range just had the two models - the standard narrower model (ie 66) and the wider more upmarket model (ie 68). This is the same size as the larger unit but is more MOL - I can only assume this was contemporary with the model 57. My mother had the later 68 which looked very similar to this, including the rather unusual oven door handle - the 68 was the TOL cooker

There are those who will claim that this is not a classic Mixmaster but actually it is a much better bet for use than an earlier model. And for cakes it is probably better than a Chef or Kitchenaid. In chrome (finish - not metal) and stainless steel it would fit into most era kitchens - I believe this to be from the mid 1990s

From the home of a heavy smoker?
Actually no, Kenwood often offered a variation of colour over their model line up and it is supposed to be this colour. The Chef is most often seen in this colour and I have seen the blender in it too, I have no recollection of ever seeing a Chefette in it before though CLICK HERE TO GO TO vacbear58's LINK on eBay |
