I have one of these hoods, I really like it. I wish I could install it in my kitchen but I'd need to replace a few ceramic tiles to go below it as it doesn't get as low on the wall as the current one... |

That's the last Princess, the 1961 model and it is rare; pretty machine and the only Princess w/ the Power Shower, but I'm still waiting for the one with all the buttons and the cup racks:

Phil, you can see the same model of Nutone hood in this ad, with the front panel in the folded and unfolded positions. The front panel also slides down when unfolded to expose the controls.
There was one like it above a 1960s Kenmore range in the house where I got my 1965 Inglis washer/dryer set and portable dishwasher. I made an offer for it but I didn't get it. Then I saw another one shown on the picture of Frigidaire fold down burners on Kijiji Toronto (which are still for sale I think). I contacted the owner making an offer for the range hood above them. Range hoods are another thing I like to collect! I hope the link works: www.nolinbbdo.com/#!/the-work/133... Note that there's also a 1959 Frigidaire Imperial wall oven in Aztek Copper in this ad. I also have one like it but mine doesn't have a glass in it's door. |

Phil, one good thing about these is that they are very compact with the front panel closed and they can fit in a relatively small box. So if you find one and it's not local, it's not very expensive to ship!
I got other hoods while visiting houses with appliances for sale (I got one along with my 1964 Filtrator dryer, another one with one of my A806 washers and a few more when buying ovens/cooktops). The largest one I got is a stainless steel 48" Nutone V50 and I bought that one on eBay. That one was a bit more expensive to ship... I still haven't used it but I hope to use it someday! Here's one Nutone V50 featured in another French-Canadian ad (strangely, it's installed over a regular 30" range) so you can see how big it is! The one in the ad is missing it's original knobs but mine still has them. This strange kitchen seems to have a Tappan-Gurney Visualite double wall oven at the opposite side of the kitchen. I can't tell if this ad was done in a real house or staged but in either way, I wondering how they came with an idea like that! Maybe the house originally had one large cooktop that was later replaced with a free-standing range. If the cooktop was also a Tappan, no wonder why they replaced it with a free standing range in the early eighties! Tappan built-ins were quite popular in Québec but they weren't too good and generally survived by their matching ovens (which were, in most cases, not used as much I guess).
And here's my V-50 hood (the first picture shows it where it was originally installed (in Michigan if I remember well). This one has two speeds but unlike the other ones with a variable speed single motor, this one has just one motor turning at full speed on "low", and on the "hi" setting, both blowers turn. That's why the knob has "Blowers" instead of "Blower" written on it. |

Jason, you mean one that folds? That must be rare. I know they made them from the NuTone brochure on ephemera but I have never seen one!

I'm almost positive; it's sitting high up on a shelf and it looks like the folding one above. That hardware store is my go-to supply place, as the guy buys out old closed businesses and has stuff that can't be found at the big box stores. It's fantastic. I'll ask about it the next time I'm there and see if I can get pictures.

Can anyone tell me anything about this hood? I'm guessing 60's when the house was built, pink appliances to match:)

The range and hood are still available. I think the seller might be open to offers. |

The range is the TOL Mark 27 with the remote control module with the clock and surface unit buttons. The remote controls made it easier to keep the front of the range clean after a Crisco fry off. |
