Saw this while trolling Kansas City CL - an usual sight for sure.  Montgomery Ward built-ins from this era are pretty rare.  Does anyone know who made this?  Tappan?

The thermostat knobs are very similar to the Martha Washington wall oven and cooktop in our 1964 house.

Could be Norge,

Although I agree with the above, it looks like one of the Tennessee stove manufacturers, Martha Washington, Modern Maid or Enterprise.

Still, it gives us hope that beautiful machines like this are still out there with each one that shows up...

Those have to be the biggest windows I have ever seen on a vintage wall oven.

They ARE!

Good looking, I didn't mean to sound so negative, I had a friend who had a MM wall oven, it baked very nicely, but the door got out of adjustment so bad you had to prop it shut!!LOL, On the other hand, A cousin had a stainless Enterprise oven that she loved, she baked beautiful pastries and cakes in that thing and never had any problems...But as a rule, those were NOT the best ovens made, especially when compared to Frigidaire, GE and Westinghouse..

ModernMaid Built-In cooking appliances

combo52's profile picture

They had some interesting appliances, MM was sold only through kitchen remolding companies, so kitchen cabinet distributors etc had an exclusive product, they did not have to worry about competing with the GE, WP, HP, Frigidaire, etc dealer down the street.

MM at some point was owned by Raython as was Amana and Caloric, so a few MM appliances were really Calorics or Amana refrigerators and were not to bad.

Being in the appliance repair business I can tell you Hans is correct, the general construction quality especially thing little things like door hinges were crap, LOL.
