Why should the 806's get all the attention? : )
One thing I appreciate about our local big-box store chain is that they resell the appliances they take on trade, and they're not ashamed to put out the most damaged, dented, incomplete machines you could imagine. Center dial 'tags don't turn up the way they once did, so it was a surprise to see one sitting there for $19 that had the distinction of being a 206 BOL'er IN a designer color WITH the cheap painted trim panel which I associate with the 106's. It was obvious the lid had been popped and hit the pavement based on the chips (and missing lid balls), however the porcelain top was perfect, an underchassis check revealed clean belts and not a trace of oil, and the factory Maytag hoses with paper tag (obviously used) were still with it. With a little TLC it could be nice again, and avocado lids are out there. So...what the heck. I figure it'll make a nice companion to my similar condition sunny yellow example. Funny, if it had had the chrome trim I probably would have left it! -C |

Nice 206 you've got there. I grew up with one that did not have the faux pilot light fixture. Lasted almost 27 years without a repair. |

We had a 206 and it was a real workhorse, standing up to challenges regularly thrown at/in it by a couple of teenagers. It was only because its companion DG806 dryer screeched to a halt that we decided to replace both machines.
I wish the big box stores around here would do likewise with their trade-ins. |

Wish Lowes would try to sell machines they take on trade or "recycle"-Like the trade ins can be recycled to NEW homes-esp those older Maytags. Many folks besides collectors would like them! |

one reason places like Lowes wont re-sell the trade in machines is their afraid the vintage machines would out sell any of the new stuff.....
not that its government regulated for energy savings..... but more and more people are being discouraged by whats on the market today, and after their purchase, wishing they could go back, or find a vintage machine again...some people are also selling their new Flers cheap, just to get rid of them, and go back to a normal TL machine..... many people are searching for vintage just as we are....in the past year, I have had a number of people searching for me, as to purchase center dial Maytags, and especially GE FilterFlos.... |
