Saw this at this great resale store today, concept of goodwill but way better. Anyway, I thought the angles and styling was interesting. Like they really tried and went all out with specific knobs etc instead of standards.

Yes, Chinese made in Wuxi, not far up the Yangtze river from Shanghai. GE partnered with the Little Swan Washing Machine Company (now a subsidiary of Midea) to build their front-loading washers and although GE has established some f/l washer production in the U.S., they still source the bulk of their f/l washers in whole from Little Swan. Only the "right height" washers are assembled in the U.S. now but likely most of the parts are shipped in from Little Swan and Midea's staggering network of suppliers all over Asia now.

In their defense, the early Little Swan machines were quite ghastly and had some problems but they've persisted in the market and have lasted longer than many expected. All bets are off now that Electrolux is absorbing the GE brand. Parts will probably still be available until the 10th anniversary date of the model's release and then *poof* you need a new washer!
