Hello there....I just bought my first vintage washer a month ago, It's a white Maytag A806 early to mid 70s. I was just wondering if these machines were any good and or popular amongst the washing machine collectors. It seems to work very well, and is pretty clean for a 40 year old washer.

I have an A806 as my everyday washer, no problems and is a good washer. Machines from this era actually use water to clean the clothes, not just slop around a bit and hope it all comes out clean. Congrats on a fine machine. Gary

I also have two A806 washers and a DE806 dryer. I really like the style of these machines!

and the 806 is so much more versatile because it is a 2-speed washer which you can select any agitate/spin speed combination you'd like, compared to your 408, which is a 1-speed fabric-matic washer.

but i'm sure the 806 & 408 are both cool machines to have :o)
