So, I refuse to start a vintage washer/dryer collection. But, on my way home from class, to let the dog out, was this lovely pair of avacado green Whirlpools about 7 houses away from mine. They weren't there 2 hours ago when I left for class. I slammed on my breaks, and pulled out my camera phone (who said those wouldn't come in handy?). There's a washer behind the dryer, too. I'll try to get a better picture of the washer later.

DROOOOOL

YES they're definitely special. Belt-drive WP's in avocado no less. Get them. Somebody will want them. If you weren't so far away, I'd at least get the washer

I am on the phone with Fred now, he says:

If someone will definately commit to wanting these he will pick them up, as doing so will require securing a truck and some extra muscle.
He will be glad to pick them up if someone will say YES for sure.

They're still there this morning.

I don't think the set matches... The control panel on the washer is different than that of the dryer.

Fred, you need to save those!!! They'll go well with the basement shag and are fun to watch too! That washer control panel is to die for...

Everyone expands into large appliances sooner or later...;-)

Oy!

My mother puts up with the vacuum cleaners *thankfully*!

I'm not delving into other major appliances. (Yet, anyways)

The dryer, using the standard Whirlpool Avocado Dryer
Snatchation profile of 1 to 9; 1 suggesting lesser snatch-
worthiness, 9 being most worthy of urgent snatchation; is
a 10.
To the washing machine may be applied a similar set of values.
I don't know the name of the part below the lid on top of the
tub, but if it is made of metal painted white it is definitely a 10. From the limited view of the washer console
I think it might be post metal tub cover era. For OUR purposes
alone, the Avocado color makes it a 9. Please pay the cashier
on your way out!!!!!

All this talk about snatching...

And they're gone. Came home from work tonight, and there was a vacancy at the end of that driveway. They've gone to appliance heaven.

:-(

I don't know the name of the part below the lid on top o

i believe its been called the *tub ring* vacuum enthusiasts might remember this term. i was instantly reminded of *bag ring* when i first heard it.
