Hello,

I have a question about my washing machine that I purchased around a month ago. I'm not sure what model it is, but it has a speed selector knob for regular, perm press, and delicate. Most of the time I use the regular setting on the timer knob along with regular on the speed selector, but occasionally my wife has loosely woven skirts or shirts that I wash separate from everything else. For this I use the delicate/hand wash setting, which provides a slow, intermittent agitation but a regular spin speed without doing anything with the speed selector. However if I switch the speed selector, it will give me a delicate spin. My question is, is the intermittent slow agitation enough, or should I also use the slow spin on these loads? I always thought it was the agitation that messed up delicate clothing, but I could be wrong. I don't really own any delicate clothing myself so I have no idea.
Ryne

I think the primary purpose of the slow spin is to reduce wrinkling.

Unfortunately, I am totally blind, so I can't post a picture. I bought it at a used appliance store. It's all dials, no buttons, has a variable water level knob, extra rinse, four wash/rinse temperatures, and the speed selector knob. The timer dial has a regular wash that I believe goes up to 16 minutes, a delicate/hand wash setting, and I believe a perm press cycle but I never use that.

sounds like he may be describing one of the dependable care machines but I could be mistaken

Yes, I think that's right. It has a faster agitation than the older models, I think, similar to the machine my dormitory had during part of my time at the Indiana School for the Blind. That machine was bought in the 90's.
