Too bad this is so far; it would definitely find a home with me if it were closer.

Looks like a 1967 model. Can't say these were spectacular performers, but the control panel is classic. Has Rinse-Glo but not much else. Will try to find it in the literature but it looks like an oddball "track 7 3/4" model.

Yup, 1967 and it was a standard catalog model #SD-300C. It was one down from the TOL. I think 1967 is the first year for blue racks after the white ones

Interesting....  I spotted the Rinse-Glo but I wondered what the two cycle selections were.

Would this have had a three-level wash? I am guessing the 'Silver Shower' was already gone by this model...

I don't think "Silver Shower" happened yet.

I always thought these model GE's were so beautiful.  There were several homes in the neighborhood where I grew up that his this model and the model up from this.  They were all yellow in color.  I thought they were so classy looking.   Never was able to hear one wash.  : (

The first disposables.

Unfortunately, with the first 30 years of GE Front-Loaders, the designs of the control panels were always more sophisticated than the innards. And it pains me to say that because of their heritage and what could have been.

I think this was a conscious decision on the part of the company to corner the mass-construction market. They were very light in weight and inexpensive. They were everywhere. Very easy for a landlord to install and then remove and dispose.
