Picking your brains. About 2 months ago I found an unused WU1000. I love a reverse rack Maytag dishwasher so I grabbed it. The interior is mint complete with unopened packet of directions, jet dry sample and so on. There is pitting on the chrome on the control panel and from what I can tell it is all one piece. I am not locked into touch pads (actually I prefer buttons) and will not install this with the pitting on it, it's not horrible but it would make me crazy.
What to do, can another panel be interred, say the one with all the buttons? Finding another WU1000 panel would be difficult, I parted one out about 2 years ago-ouch! Not sure if any surgery is possible but if she's a parts donor than so be it, the price I paid was worth the pristine racks if nothing else can be done. Put on your thinking caps experts....GO!

Is the pitting so serious that it cannot be buffed out with some Flitz or Semichrome Polish? |
