Well, I thought the 'maid had a permanent home, but it was never claimed by the person who wanted it so I kept it.
BUT... I am under some pressure to clear space in the garage (and we'll not talk about the three new goodies that are going to be gracing my collection shortly...) so the '59 GE Mobile Maid has to disappear fast. It's free to a good home and I would be able to transport it down to Boston to Jon Charles' wash-in on June 29th and 30th.
The machine belonged to a vintage-appliance-loving acquaintance in Montreal (it was her grandmother's!). I repaired the tub for her back in 2009 and the machine went into a rental unit. The machine was installed semi-permanently but her tenants said it leaked so she offered it to me. I saw the issue right away - the thread on the water valve got badly stripped when the unicouple was removed. The unicouple was no longer with the machine so when I got it in 2013, I replaced the water valve and put in a more recent dishwasher hose assembly (from a Kenmore). The detergent cup is a bit wonky - I managed to repair it in 2009 but it's still kinda fragile. Racks are decent and the tub is still leak-free. The motor and timer work fine.
I feel horrible saying this, but I don't have a taker for the whole machine, I'll keep it and part it out (I'll try and use the lid on the '59 GE Princess pull-out - it may work!) |
