Love the Westy cake and cookies! Beautiful machines! My mom had that slant front with the black and gold trim...rare model, don't see it too often. I think it was a 1957 mid-line model. Exciting to see it once again. I hope someone is taking videos. Cheers, guys!!

Love the "W" cakes and cookies. You all look like you're having fun. With lick I'll be able to make it to the next one.

Thanks for the pics,

Looks like you guys are out of the storms for a while in western PA and its headed up here to ME for tonight and tomorrow according to NOAA. Jeff's truck looks just like my 18 year old one I traded in last year with the same pin striping that finally wore off in the same places after all those years. Glad you guys are having a good time, wished I could have made the journey.

Fixing the leak on the W

moparwash's profile picture
Before it would gush out of the bottom of the tub...after some epoxy and Martin's handiwork, it now holds water!

The tub weights on slant-fronts are easily removable with 3 bolts accessible from the top of the machine...with them out, they are much easier to load and move!

Another plus:

IIRC, along with its higher capacity, the Avanti's spin speed is higher than most washers of that size and weight.

Great pics!

The pink laundromat

appnut's profile picture

My "other mother" had that model in white.  Somewhere along life, her oldest son told me about the dial changing colors as it progressed through the cycle--even at various time settings for wash phase.  But the timer dial light was burned out by the time I was old enough to be conscious of such things.  It was replaced by the 1963/1964 Monkey Wards like Robert & Fred has.

Back home safe.

volvoguy87's profile picture
I made it home to Cincinnati safe and sound. I had a wonderful time again this year in good company. Now I want a 1957 Westinghouse Laundromat! While it would look good in white, it looks stunning in pink. I'd imagine it would also look fantastic in yellow, black, turquoise, or a seafoam green, if ever any such colors were offered. It would look great next to the Frigidaire WCI-58 I also would love to find!

The HoH DE606 teardown went well and all the bearings have now been lubricated and the whole machine has been cleaned. New belts have also been installed. Unfortunately, it won't turn on! The door switch is good, the heating element, high limit thermostat on the heater housing, and one of the 2 thermostats on the blower housing have continuity. The other thermostat on the blower housing has no continuity. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks again for hosting, Moparwash!
Dave
