This is my Hotpoint 9536, in fairly okay condition, I got this from a friend who had it sat around and I managed to rescue it! Many things have been replaced in it, the bearings have been replaced, the carbons, suspension and the speed control module. There is one major issue, during the main washes, the motor will suddenly burst/jerk causing the drum to completely spin out of control and cause the insides to slam against the cabinet. Any ideas as to why this could be happening? Put a link in to demonstrate the sudden bursts...

So, you're saying it does it at "any" part of the cycle or only when doing the conditioning rinse?

Hi Luke

This sounds like a similar issue to my 9544. During the long wash tumbles on mine the drum speeds up slightly - you wouldn't really notice it. However when it comes to the distribution, it is all over the place. I've attached a link to my video.

Check that the tacho is all ok at the back of the motor and the wiring between this and the module. I've attached a photo which shows one of the brushes which has been overheating a bit. The tacho cover is the gold coloured disc behind with the magnet in the centre.

Thank you so much for your reply... I'll have a look at the tacho later along with the connections etc and see if there is anything I can do, can't seem to find any spare tachos online so hopefully this will work out! It's very frustrating as the rest of the machine is near perfect!!

Thanks, Luke
