I think high heat or chlorine has been the approach to sanitizing dishware commercially and high heat in domestic machines. I would think that there would be problems with uniform exposure, the ozone byproduct from UV light and the time involved. |

But IIRC, never on the EU market... I think in the early days of US dryers, an ozone lamp was common... |

That is a cool idea, Malcolm. The LG referenced in Alexander's link must be a UK model. My LG was a 2008 model and it looked nothing like this one.
Of course, we could all just toss our dishes into a 1959 Lady Kenmore washer, as it had a UV lamp for sanitization. Don't imagine it did much, but man, it made the suds glow brilliantly. |
