The video is helpful as it shows what you are in for BUT, I do not like dropping the transmission a 1/2" however, on an older machine this can cause seal damage to the agitator and spin tube shaft seals, it can also lead to misalignment of the spin tube in the center post bearings which sometimes leads to a washer that won't spin properly after a belt has been changed.
There is a 1/2" spacer above the transmission bolt near the clutch control shaft, this is the only transmission bolt that I ever disturb when changing a belt, this is the way the washer was designed to have a belt changed. The spin cam bar can be pushed back and out of the clutch control shaft allowing the shaft to drop and then the new belt is slipped over the top of the clutch control shaft. |
