So the wife says "Honey, the washer's beeping. Your cold load is done." Strange, I was sure I selected the Heavy Duty cycle on the Frigidaire Affinity LTF6000FS0. It's supposed to take an hour and three minutes but only about 45 minutes had passed. Sure 'nuff, it was beepin', four short toots and a pause, with a "dr" flashing in the li'l window. A few Google minutes later, I ordered up a replacement for the suspect faulty part: the door latch assembly (see photo) from an Amazon marketplace vendor for a fraction of the price directly from Electrolux.
The top lid's off, the screws are in a sandwich bag and I'm hoping my white cotton socks and towels last until it's fixed.
Stay tuned for updates after the package arrives (around the 30th of the month).

. . . and because I'm not built like Popeye the Sailor Man and the washer isn't part of a stack, I used the "take the top off the washer" approach instead of the more commonly recommended "pull away the gasket and reach in through the side" method.
A little maneuvering, a couple screws, and the washer rinsed and spun the towel rags I had used to wick up the water left in the drum. That was followed by a full hot water wash with chlorine bleach (take THAT, EPA!) and life is back to normal. In the interim, I ran out of white cotton socks so I had to do my sock-and-towel load at the laundromat but brought it home to dry. |
