I am in the process of doing maintenance on my 7305 Asko dryer bought in 1997. Grinding noise let me to discover that the front felt seal was mangled/torn needing replacement. A new felt seal is $70. Because it appears that it is a 1.5" wide, 1/4" thick felt strip folded over and held on by clips (no glue), I am wondering if I could make one out of felt weatherstriping or some other cotton or wool felt fabric.

Has anyone ever done this on a dryer? I don't think the material has to be fire retardant as I tested a piece of felt from the old seal and it caused a flame.

See link below for the material I bought...

Any thoughts if it would work?

I can't see any reason you can't replace the felt. Flame retardant shouldn't matter, the clothing in the dryer isn't either.

This is the perfect place to look to McMaster Carr for your felt. They have way more options and it sells by the foot.

Not to mention you don't have to feed the awful Amazon machine!

Oh, heavens, no. I can't even sew a button on a shirt. But I did find it myself on Google, LOL.

Eugene, I can sew on buttons with my eyes closed, but haven't figured how to take a pic from the net and post it here with this phone lol.

Perhaps a video works better as an instruction.
