Good Afternoon,

I just purchase a used Maytag MTW5800TW top load washing machine with the stainless steel wash basket.

Does anyone out there in AutomaticWasher land have any thoughts on this machine.  It seems to be old school, which I wanted, without the locking lid, water saving nonsense, and automatic water level.  I tell the machine what I want and it does it.  The washer appears to be well built and solid.

After it is delivered and installed, I will post a video.

I was going after a used Speed Queen that "Laundress" found for me, but the guy sold it before I even got to chance to inspect in person.  It was local too!

Oh well, hopefully the Maytag will be a good second choice.

I did want a new Speed Queen, but it was not in the budget.  The Maytag was $150.00 plus delivery and install.

Best wishes to all,

Richard

You got what you wanted.  Whirlpool direct drive washer.

But it does have automatic temperature controlled wash temp and cold water rinse only. That's a 2007 model.

It does have an automatic temperature control on the warm temperature.  Other than that, I control everything else.  As I never use hot water, only warm or cold, the automatic temperature control is a nonissue for me.

I realize that this is basically a Whirlpool direct drive machine.  Not a problem.  I had a 1990 Whirlpool Imperial with a 3 speed motor.  It was the absolute best washer I have ever owned.  Wish they still made them like that.  Unfortunately, I sold it with my condo and have regretted that decision ever since.

Here's hoping I have good luck with this Maytag.

Stay well and Happy Sunday to all,

Richard

The cool and hot settings are also temperature controlled.
