Hi Everyone. New member here. I have some questions about a 1994 Maytag Dependable Care Plus LAT9704AAE that I recently purchased from the original owners. It is in great condition and works great although I noticed the transmission throws a bit of oil when it spins. It is currently sitting in the garage although I plan to eventually bring it into service. I hope I never have to buy the kind of poor quality stuff they make now. I was interested in buying some spare parts before they are no longer available, although I had some concerns about the quality of the replacement parts. I was thinking of a spare drive motor, transmission and timer. I noticed that part numbers have changed now that Whirlpool owns Maytag and one of the parts suppliers told me they are probably made “offshore” like everything seems to be now. The motor on my machine says “Made in USA” and was part number 201807. The new part number is 12002353 and nobody knows where it comes from. The new orbital transmissions have a different part number as well. Does anyone have experience with these parts or any recommendations of what I should do? Would you buy these (and any other) parts and keep them on hand? Should I look for the older parts somewhere?

Hi your machine is older but not really collectable….Why not look for a great set from early 70s they are amazing machines …look for a 806 they have lights in the tub come in several colors and maybe every 30 years you need to buy a motor or belts or pumps…and the console lights up..they are like dusenbergs of the 70s just fun to watch…..usually they are everywhere on craigs list of used washer stores pay on adverage 40 to 80 dollars for them and you can get a new motor pumps and belts still on ebay or any appliance stores…have some real fun get an older machine…enjoy mark in arizona

I would love one of those older sets, and am definitely keeping my eyes open for them. They do seem harder to come across up here in Canada (maybe it was a smaller market, I'm not sure). Mechanically this seems very similar to the older Maytags, other than the transmission.

You have a nice collection! I think that would be a good idea to get in touch with collectors in Canada. Would questions about this machine be more appropriate in the "Deluxe" forum?
