I was directed to this website to try and find a home for the range that was in the house I purchased. The prior owner moved in in 1965 and was a mechanical engineer at GE which was founded 5 minutes away from the house. I do not know whether it was a gift to him, he designed them, or just bought a high end item. Right front burner only gets warm but rest is working. Well cared for. I attempted to get it repaired but the repairman seemed to think it was the switch and was skeptical about finding something and my brother also looked into it. The burners are hard-wired but still easier to find apparently. A different stove was provided to us so it forced the changeout. The info I got suggested that this was a top of the line stove back in the 1960s. It came with a griddle that fit on the burner that doesn't work. Nice fluorescent light on the back panel. The microwave oven from 1986 that they had just died too. I have the receipt showing they paid $526 back then for the microwave. I do not have the original paperwork on the stove.

I'm glad

to see that someone here was able to convince you to bring the stove back in!  This is a beautiful range - and even with it's faults it's a great stove.  I'm on the Gulf Coast, but if I were closer I would definitely consider giving this beauty a new home.

The pictures also show there is a rotisserie attachment. If members don't respond within a few days should I assume that there wouldn't be any takers?

It looks like you're going to have to let it go. Everyone want's one, til it actually appears.

You might consider donating it to a Habitat ReStore (if there's one nearby) or similar business.  If you have to put it on the curb, I suggest salvaging that griddle, broiler pan/rack, rotisserie and meat thermometer.  People here and on Ebay are likely willing to purchase those components as they will work on other GE ranges.

Thanks. I stuck it on ebay and even tried a movie prop house that supports vintage films. I also reached out to our local GE museums since the company was founded here and am waiting to hear back from one. There are two ReStores here; I am not sure they will take it if not fully functional but I will give them a call.

End Result

So it looks like the winning destination is a drop-off donation to the local Edison Tech Center, who do not have this range in their collection of GE electronics. So ldarosh did manage to save it from the scrapyard after all. No monetary value to anyone at the moment.

So food for thought for those in the Albany, NY area with vintage GE.

I'm so glad it was saved! Hopefully, our next generation of engineers can be inspired by the elegance of the design and quality of the build.
