Hi all

I just bout a vintage Frigidaire WO-65-2 in working order so far, just did a quick test wen I bout it.

how do I remove the agitator and can anything be done with dray rot on the rubber rings on it.

any thing else I need to know on this washer. I am intending to use this at my vacuum store for rag towels and cat beading from home.

Hi Chris, welcome here! I have a few old Frigidaire washers but none like yours.

I personally wouldn't want to use such an old machine for daily use.  I have a slightly newer 1957 Frigidaire Unimatic washer that I use occasionally but mine is missing the original agitator. I have read here that some people use rubber rings from some old Osterizer blenders to replace the original Frigidaire rubber rings but I haven't done it myself.

thanks for your reply

this will only be used a few times a month. it was in use up to 3 years ago. they keep it in the garage for 35 years as a extra washer, for small threw rugs. it still looks like new. I hope to get it hooked up this weekend, and take it for a spin.

any one else have a list of dos and don'ts with this old washer, as I am used to using a 1982 Maytag auto or a Maytag wringer washer.

thanks Chris

That washer will wash the hell out of stuff and get them cleaner than you can imagine and spin them drier than you can imagine, but it will probably tangle the hell out of them too!

WOW.

You have found a very coveted Washer most members here would love to have.

I would hang on to that machine and use it for your personal laundry. It's superior washing, rinsing, and spin dry performance is stellar. Again, I wouldn't use it as a daily driver as we say here, but once a week for towels and clothing would work fine. There are little quirks to learn as "Quadrant Loading".

If all you are washing is Shop Towels and Cat Bedding, I would look for any generic machine to do that job.

Your WO 65-2 is not only a rare machine, but personally I think should be restored to it's original beauty and cherished as a engineering marvel.

I have the exact same model. And it needs some work, but I can tell you, I can't wait to get it up and running again. You really won't believe how much soil these machines can "Pump" out of laundry.

You can throw a load of laundry in without detergent and you will be amazed how much left over soap these machines will release out of fibers during the wash cycle there should be a layer of suds and foam on the surface of the water.

When I used my Unimatic for the first time, I washed some Chef's Pants that were already washed and put away. During the Wash Cycle, I lifted the lid and all I could smell was food soil. At the end of the cycle, the pants looked almost new again due to the thorough washing, rinsing, and extraction of the 1140 spin.

Save this machine for Personal Laundry and pick up a Whirlpool, Kenmore, Maytag or for that matter anything to use for your Shop Towels and Animal bedding.

Just my opinion. Good Luck with your machine.
